Creating Custom Groups: Spiceworks Quick How-To

Spiceworks uses groups to easily identify and collect information about common devices. You can also create your own groups so that you can quickly access devices that meet any criteria you define. To see the groups Spiceworks uses or to create your own, simply click the Settings button in your inventory toolbar. To href="http://www.spiceworks.com/free-asset-management-software/"create a custom group, just click "New Group," name it, and select an appropriate icon. In some instances, you may find that you'd like to place a device into a group, even if it doesn't meet the rules you've set. You can simply navigate to the device, click the general info tab, and click edit. Then simply specify the device you'd like your group to be included in. Groups allow you to associate machines based on whatever criteria you find important, and this allows you to find, view, and troubleshoot devices quickly and conveniently.
